A single dose of 2,000 mg-GMI/kg was applied orally to BALB/cByJ mice. Results shown no abnormal clinical signs of respiratory, central nervous and digestive systems were observed and all mice survived well at 14th day post dosing. GMI exerted no severe adverse toxic effects in mice at dose levels up to 2,000 mg/kg, therefore the mouse LD50 of GMI is greater than 2,000 mg/kg.

14-day and 13-week toxicology studies were conducted to evaluate the acute and sub-chronic toxicity of GMI, respectively. 7-8-week old Sprague-Dawley Rats were orally administered with GMI once daily for 14 days or 13 weeks consecutively. No abnormality or death of rats observed during study period indicated the No Observed Adverse Effect Level (NOAEL) of GMI should be higher than study doses in rats:
